What's Happening with <<Ode to Peace>>

[Ode To Peace] Has Successfully Concluded!

To commemorate the centennial of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Dreamland Performing Arts Centre has successfully organized and put on stage a theatrical show in title of [Ode to Peace] on June 27, 2015 in Living Arts Centre of Mississauga. Through overall efforts of 600 performers, the show was instantly a success and was responded by enthusiastic applause from 1300 people of audience with their comment:"The show is a powerful, heart-shaking and the most memorable event to remember the history"

[Ode to Peace] includes singing, dancing, drama and documentary files and is unique in several ways. It is the first project of its kind in Chinese Canadians' history to bring memories and history alive through performing arts to showcase brave Canadians' enormous sacrifices in the wars particularly in Europe and the Asia-Pacific theatre during the Second World War. Second, by showing the Chinese Canadian soldiers' sacrifices in Canada's war effort,  and by focusing on the shared historical experiences of China and Canada, the project has helped to develop a sense of identity and pride among Canada's Chinese communities. The preparation of the project itself has proven to be an effective and educational experience. Beyond our goal and expectation,  the project has attracted a team of cast and crew reaching nearly 1000 people and has brought 102 community organizations together to contribute to the event. Altogether about 3000 people including participants and volunteers have been involved in the event, and many of them are young people, even children and teenagers attended the show as performers.. By paying tribute to history through their personal participation and efforts, the project has helped all people to realize that we should value and cherish more dearly the peace, freedom and democracy we have and enjoy today in this country.
